Back in the middle of December I flew out to San Diego to meet up with my work colleagues. I work remotely from home in a different part of the country from where they’re from so most of our meetings happen over video call. This past December marks the first time that we’ve actually met in person. There wasn’t really any work being done. More of a work retreat. The main goal was just to meet in person since that is something that we really don’t have many opportunities for and it’s something we plan on doing in the future.
The pictures here document my trips to and from San Diego as well as some of the activities we did while there. I’ve realized that half of my pictures are while flying. The novelty of flying has yet to wear off as I take several pictures of planes while laid over at the airport and while high in the sky.
The first roll of film I chose to use was an aerial photography film called Elektra 100 by Flic Film. It is Kodak aerial photography film that they re-spooled into 35mm cassettes for normal still photography. I’m guessing it’s Kodak Aerocolor III. I felt it was fitting for the travel portion of my trip. It was processed in C-41, but I’d be curious to try it again, but process it in AN-6, which I think it was designed for.
The next day I loaded a roll of Ektachrome into my camera and took pictures of the USS Midway as well as in the Ocean Beach part of town Where we walked along a pier and into downtown to find some coffee. In between we had lunch at a place called Pizza Port. Great pizza and house-brewed beer.
It was a short trip as on the third day it was time for me to head home and get ready for Christmas. More pictures of planes and skies, but this time in black and white. These photos were shot with Kentmere 100. Which I believe is Ilford’s “cheap” brand of film. Still, it looked good. Though the roll only had twenty-four exposures.
