Shortly after my trip to Talladega I had some leftover Ektachrome in my Holga camera. So, I went with my mom to Ford Park on a Sunday afternoon to shoot some photos. I finished the roll and shot my first, and up to now, my only roll of Ilford HP5. It is also my first and so far, only black and white roll I’ve shot on 120. I then proceeded to finish the roll later when I drove back to Ruston.
At the time, my only 120 camera was the Holga GCFN. A cheap, almost toy, camera. And it shows in these pictures. The photos are only sharp in the center of the frame, and they vignette on the corners. It’s less noticeable with the black and white film. I also kept forgetting to take the lens cap off, so I was always in doubt if I ever left a blank frame, and I left a few. I recently purchased a Zenza Bronica S2. A proper SLR to shoot medium format. I’m currently waiting to see the results of my first rolls of film captured with that camera.
Anyway, Ford Park was a decent place. There is an old locomotive there. The Dardanelle & Russellville Railway’s #10, which you can learn more about here. It also had a nice view of Cross Lake. But that is all there is for photographing. Beyond that there’s a disc golf course, playground, and pavilions for picnicking. Overall, it was worth checking out since I’d never been there before. My mom had been there before, before the flooding a few years ago. There was a cool boardwalk that went out into the cypress trees. But that’s been removed due to flood damage.
