Around Ruston in Sixteen Millimeters

I recently bought a 16mm camera from eBay back in May. It is a Bell & Howell 240 EE. The camera looks like something out of Star Wars with its selenium light meter, lens, and view finder. The light meter is used to control an auto exposure feature that, unfortunately, doesn’t work anymore. As is the case with most of these older light metering systems. But I can manually control the exposure.

I tested the roll with Kodak’s black and white reversal film. Though, it seems to have come out severely over exposed. I was going off the manual for shutter speed and using my own light meter to set the aperture. My only guess is that either the manual is incorrect or the wrong one. The company I bought the film from, Film Photography Project, suggested a shutter speed for all cameras that shoot at the specific frame rate of sixteen frames per second, 1/30th of a second which is different than what the manual mentioned, 1/43rd of a second.

Anyway, I shot another roll recently with this in mind and hope to get it developed soon. In the meantime, here is the over exposed movie I shot of scenes around Ruston, Louisiana.
